Guidelines for Resume

Resume Writing Do's

Resume Writing Don'ts

Resume Writing Don'ts

  • Keep your resume brief and easy to read An employer scans a resume in around 30 seconds on average. You want them to realize that you are capable of doing the job straight away.
  • Check your resume several times for errors. Verify that there are no grammatical or spelling errors. Get a second set of eyes to review it. An employer may get the wrong impression from a minor spelling error on a CV. It may even keep you from being hired.
  • Keep your CV to two pages. Highlight your most current experience on your CV. Experience and occupations older than fifteen years should be reduced or eliminated. The employer will be able to concentrate on more pertinent data in this way.
  • Emphasize your accomplishments. It would be ideal if you could pinpoint the finest instances in which you applied your abilities. These need to highlight your accomplishments in the position and show the sort of worker you are. It is advisable to put this information in the resume's "Work experience" section.
  • Be truthful. On a CV, lying is never a smart idea. Overstating your abilities or accomplishments will mislead the employer, so avoid doing so. Trust yourself and your abilities.
  • Verify again and provide your contact details. Your name, address, phone number, and email should all be listed on your resume. The initial page's header should contain this information. Additionally, confirm the accuracy of this information. The employer won't be able to get in touch with you otherwise.

  • Don't provide extraneous personal details. Any personal information that might be deemed contentious, such as age, height, weight, marital status, political beliefs, religion preference, or other personal characteristics, should be left out. This will stop any possible prejudice. Above all, never put your Social Security number on your CV.
  • Don't just enumerate your work duties. Your work title will make clear what your responsibilities are. Rather, emphasize your accomplishments by personalizing your work responsibilities and offering concrete instances.
  • Avoid making generalizations that don't emphasize your real contribution. Employers are not given any information by vague words like "Responsible for improving efficiencies and making cost savings". Customize your encounter.
